Two men accused of soliciting 10-year-old to make explicit video - Two out-of-state men are expected to be extradited to Montana to face sexual exploitation and child pornography charges following allegations that they posed as a preteen girl on the Internet to coerce a 10-year-old Helena boy to send them sexually explicit videos of himself.
According to an FBI report, both men accessed a YouTube account under the username “funandfreaky7,” through which they pretended to be an 11-year-old girl sending explicit videos of herself to a Helena boy and asking for images in return. The boy had complied with the request, the report states.
The information was uncovered after the boy’s mother contacted local law enforcement with concerns about her son’s computer use. McGee commended the woman for looking into what her child was doing online but a computer monitoring program may have pre-empted the problem.
“I would highly encourage that of parents,” he said.  Read More>>

"Have frank discussions with your children about the kinds of people who are out there and what they are willing to do," Woods said.

‘Sextortion’ a parent’s worst nightmare, Federal prosecutors say online sexual extortion of teenagers is a growing problem. - teens themselves have become the subject of predators stalking youth to gain a profit through electronic media. According to a recent report by the Associated Press, federal prosecutors and other experts say they’re seeing an upswing in online sexual extortion. It starts simply enough: A teen yields to an online request to flash her breasts at a web cam, or posts an inappropriate photo on a social networking site presuming only her “friends” will see it. The next thing she knows, she’s getting threatening e-mails or posts from a stranger, saying he’s captured the image, and unless she poses for even more explicit photos, he’ll post the existing embarrassing images for all to see. The term coined for this brand of blackmail is called “sextortion,” and teens in at least a dozen states have been recently affected. Read More>>

“Parents who would never invite a stranger into their child’s bedroom may not realize that Facebook, webcams and online chat rooms can expose their children to sexual predators who take advantage of technology to exploit their victims,” said U.S. Attorney Beth Phillips.
Court records alleged that the girl met Pedersen in July. The conversation moved to an Internet messaging service, where Pedersen disclosed that he lived in Denmark. The girl eventually agreed to masturbate in front of a web camera.

Online 'Sextortion' of Teens Rising--Sexual Extortion--What is it and How to Prevent it? -  Online 'Sextortion' of teens is on the rise, according to Federal Authorities.
The name was derived from cases involving teenagers who take nude photos of themselves, in what appears to be fun and games or a consenting, harmless act.
They then send them via cell phone in a text message (sexting) or post them on video chat rooms in the act of having fun.
However, the nightmare ensues as the photos, that are literally impossible to remove off the internet, become a tool of exploitation or extortion.
Federal cases are popping up all over the country where a young teen sends a nude photo to a boyfriend or girlfriend meant to be "for your eyes only".  However, after "mad day" or a break up takes place, the sender is pressured into sending more explicit photos, or risk total exposure.
Faced with the embarrassment and pressure to comply, they fall victim to exploitation or Sexual exploitation, aka 'Sextortion'.  Read More>>

Feds: Teen 'sextortion' rising - The government reports a surge in web cam blackmail of underage girls.
The nightmare began with a party: three teenage girls with a webcam, visiting an Internet chatroom and yielding to requests to flash their breasts. A week later, one of the girls, a 17-year-old from Indiana, started getting threatening e-mails.
A stranger said he had captured her image on the webcam and would post the pictures to her MySpace friends unless she posed for more explicit pictures and videos for him. On at least two occasions, the teen did what her blackmailer demanded.
Federal prosecutors and child safety advocates say they're seeing an upswing in such cases of online sexual extortion. They say teens who text nude cell phone photos of themselves or show off their bodies on the Internet are being contacted by pornographers who threaten to expose their behavior to friends and family unless they pose for more explicit porn, creating a vicious cycle of exploitation.
One federal affidavit includes a special term for the crime: "sextortion." Read More>>
